Prescribing Tasigna
Prescribe Tasigna for patients who are no longer benefiting from Glivec®.
Consider Tasigna for the treatment of chronic and accelerated phase Philadelphia chromosome–positive (Ph+) chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in adult patients resistant to or intolerant of at least one prior therapy, including Glivec (imatinib mesylate).
Who should take Tasigna?
Patients who are not meeting minimum treatment goals:
- Patients who
- Fail to achieve a complete hematologic response (CHR) by three months,
- Fail to achieve a cytogenetic response (CyR) by six months,
- Fail to achieve major cytogenetic response by 12 months (MCyR)
- Patients who lose HR or CyR at any time
Patients in chronic phase who are intolerant or resistant to Glivec®
- Patients who experience Grade 3/4 nonhemaetologic side effects such as
- Edema
- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- Muscle cramps, musculoskeletal pain
- Rash
- Patients with Grade 2 AEs that persist for at least 1 month despite optimal supportive care
- Patients with side effects that lead to discontinuation of therapy
